Jordi Alba announces his retirement from professional football
The decorated Spanish defender joined Valencia CF at the age of 18, the Club where he grew and was given the opportunity to make his LALIGA debut
Thierry Correia is now in his third season at Valencia CF, and is in better form than ever. The Portuguese fullback spoke to VCF MEDIA this week to talk about the team, the win against Getafe CF and the desire to pick up another three points this coming Saturday against Granada CF.
"We've started well, which is important. We started off with a win, but that's already in the past now. We're focused on the game against Granada and we want the win," he explained, having put in a disciplined effort against Getafe with the side reduced to 10 men.
"We train very hard and very well during the week. When it comes to the game, we need to be ready to play well"
As for this weekend's opponents, Correia says that: "Granada are a good team who have been playing together for a long time. Last season we weren't able to win there, but this year we are going to work hard to do that."
"We are very united and always looking for the victory. We all work hard. The trust that the coach has in what we can do on the pitch is very important for us. We want to respond well to what he has been working on."
Correia also feels that his defensive performances will be a central part of new coach José Bordalás' tactics this season.
"From day one, the coach told us that we had conceded a lot of goals last season, and that this year we have to work hard defensively to avoid a repeat of that.
"I finished last season well, and I've been training a lot during the break to come back strong. I need to keep up my consistency."
